Real estate & zoning

Our Real Estate and Zoning group has plenty of practical experience, including work in public, private, commercial, and residential sectors. Attorney Pat Hess leads the real estate group. His first career as a land use planner gives him a special understanding of the balance between public and private interests. He understands master plans and zoning ordinances from the inside out, making it easier to navigate complicated waters and help clients accomplish goals. Regarding real estate transactions, we’ve written the book – literally. Attorney Jack Lawson has authored a two-volume work used as a reference manual by many Indiana real estate attorneys. He also helped draft the original Indiana statutes regarding land use planning. This intimate understanding is still regularly utilized at the firm today as lawyers frequently deal with zoning matters. Our experience includes:

  • Commercial real estate transactions
  • Residential real estate transactions
  • Zoning
  • Land use
  • Permitting
  • Real estate litigation
  • Environmental work
  • Wind farm and solar array issues
